From Concept to Completion
Are you curious about how high-quality diecast models are brought to life? Whether you’re a car manufacturer, dealership, or gift company, understanding the production process can help you make informed decisions when creating custom models. Here’s an easy-to-follow guide to the three main stages of model production:
Stage 1: Prototype Making
Once your project is confirmed, we kick off the process by creating a hand prototype. To get started, we’ll need the following from you:
- 3D data of the real vehicle
1、Pro/ENGINEER (2001-Wildfire version);
2、UG(version 2.0-4.0);
3、Mastencam(version 8.0-9.1);
4、IGES format;
5、STEP format
Any type of above format is ok.
- Detailed photos of the vehicle from various angles
Since we specialize in highly detailed and realistic diecast models, the more detailed the photos, the better the final product. Using this information, we develop 3D data of scale model and create a hand prototype made of ABS plastic. This prototype has no decorative details or graphics; its primary purpose is to confirm the model’s structure, dimensions, and functionality.
Once you approve the hand prototype, we move on to the next phase.
Stage 2: Mold and Pre-production Sample Creation
In this stage, we craft the mold and produce a pre-production sample. To proceed, we’ll need a few additional materials from you:
- Color master sample: This is crucial for ensuring accurate paint and finish.
- AI files for front and rear license plates and logos: We’ll provide a detailed PPT within one month after the hand prototype is approved, listing all required materials.
- AI files for packaging design.
Using these resources, we’ll produce a pre-production sample that closely resembles the final product. When you receive the sample, you’ll have the chance to review every detail and provide feedback. If there are significant changes required, we’ll produce another sample for your review. This stage typically takes about one month. For minor adjustments, we’ll create a digital rendering for your approval before moving to mass production.
Stage 3: Mass Production
After finalizing the pre-production sample, we proceed to mass production. Once the production run is complete, we’ll share a detailed video of the finished models for your inspection. Alternatively, you’re welcome to send a quality control representative to inspect the products in person. Once everything meets your satisfaction, we’ll arrange for shipment.
